A pair of entrepreneurs are teaming up on a new Springfield podcast studio venture.
Soapbox Studios LLC is a partnership between Michael Wilson, owner of Springfield Bookkeeping LLC, and Caleb Scott, former Ozarks Lunkers general manager who has been involved in real estate and other industries, according to a news release.
Scott said via email that Soapbox Studios has four multiuse stations in around 300 square feet the owners lease at 3510 S. Culpepper Circle for undisclosed terms. He also declined to disclose startup costs.
"I think the most unique value proposition is that we are a podcast studio, something that Springfield doesn’t currently have a lot of experience with, and also has the capability to be a universal space for content creators, podcasters or people that need a creative space in general," Wilson said in the release.
Scott said he and Wilson held a soft launch for the company in November 2023, with space becoming available this summer. He said the business owners are now launching the company in earnest with a planned Jan. 1 grand opening. The business partners are currently the venture’s sole employees, Scott said.
Through an online booking platform, Soapbox Studios offers flexible renting options for podcast production, content creation, group study and other purposes, according to the release. The Soapbox Studios team additionally will help customers record, produce and brand their content.
“Being a podcast creator myself (The Better Dad), I understand how difficult and costly it can be to have a space, all the equipment and the software to produce it," Scott said in the release. "We wanted those with a story to be able to tell it and it reach the masses."
