Dunkin’ Donuts began doing business in Springfield, again, at 7 a.m. today at 4020 S. Campbell Ave.

The location - formerly a Back Yard Burgers restaurant – is the first of three planned in the city by father-and-son franchisees Thomas and Cory Roebuck’s Ozark Donuts LLC. The Roebucks and a company spokesperson could not be reached for comment by deadline.

According to Greene County Assessor records, the 2,019-square-foot property is owned by C&M Realty Inc. and has a 2015 assessed value of $182,120.

Roebuck’s company purchased the property on Aug. 31 through Ross Murray of R.B. Murray Co. for undisclosed terms, had a $200,000 renovation budget and spent $40,000 on franchise fees, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Typical franchise fees per unit, according to Dunkin’ Donuts’ website, require a minimum $250,000 in liquid assets and minimum $500,000 net worth. The South Campbell Avenue store is the first Dunkin’ Donuts to operate in the Queen City since the last one closed in 1999.

The South Campbell store has been certified DD Green, which according to a company news release, means it is has sustainable and energy-efficient features.

“While the store may feel like a typical Dunkin’ Donuts, behind the scenes, it has LED light fixtures, low-flow plumbing fixtures, zero (volatile organic compound) interior paints, a recycling program and other special features,” Cory Roebuck said in the release.

The restaurant employs 65.
