Drury selects new Hammons School of Architecture dean

Posted online

Drury University has appointed a new dean for its Hammons School of Architecture.

Joshua Nason, who most recently served as associate professor and assistant director of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington, is taking on the role at Drury, according to a news release.

"Teaching design is curating a series of experiences that help students realize their authentic potential to positively impact the built world, humanity and the environment,” Nason said in the release. “In addition to skill-building and established truisms, it's about discovery; helping students explore yet-to-be-answered questions with their own voices that advance architecture."

Nason succeeds Robert Weddle, a professor of architecture at Drury who has led the Hammons School of Architecture since 2015, said Beth Harville, Drury provost.

"Bob has been an incredible dean and university leader. He decided a couple of years ago he was ready to return to the faculty and spend his time teaching, researching and writing, and taking students on study abroad trips," Harville said via email. "He generously stayed as dean through this academic year to lead the Hammons School of Architecture through the (National Architectural Accrediting Board) reaccreditation that occurred in the spring semester."

School officials say Nason brings experience in academic leadership, experiential learning and curriculum development to Drury.

The Hammons School of Architecture offers a Master of Architecture degree that's accredited by the NAAB, according to the release.
