Doe's Eat Place to shut down

Doe's Eat Place is closing nearly six years after the Rogers family brought the restaurant concept back to the Queen City.

The 935 N. Glenstone Ave. restaurant announced on Facebook it would shut down March 6.

"The combined weight of the COVID pandemic, soaring food costs, supply shortages and the evolving employment market created a choice between delivering a high-quality experience or cutting corners," the post signed by the Rogers family reads. "As sad as it makes us to share this news with everyone, we are proud of all the hard work and growth that has gone into Doe’s."

Doe's Eat Place is known for its menu of steaks and tamales, along with kababs and seafood.

Benjamin Rogers launched the franchise restaurant in 2017 with his parents, Dr. James T. and Lori Rogers, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The Rogers family invested $1.1 million to open the restaurant, located just south of Evangel University.

Doe’s Eat Place previously operated in Springfield on East Trafficway Street before its 2012 closure, according to past reporting. The Greenville, Mississippi-based restaurant chain first entered Springfield in 2006.

If they would have opened at 11:00 a.m., I would have eaten there more often.
