Posted online

Springfield's high-end home market fell in April after a large increase in listings during March.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of single-family homes within city limits that have an asking price of $500,000 or more. In April, five listings met the criteria, down from 20 in March but up from three in February.

Collectively, the residences listed last month are seeking roughly $3.8 million, according to Southern Missouri Regional MLS data. The highest priced home of the month was a three-bedroom residence near McDaniel Park with an asking price of $825,000.

During March, the average sale price for homes in the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors Inc.'s coverage area was $230,006, according to its most recent market statistics report. The homes that sold in March spent, on average, 26 days on the market.

Statewide, the average residential property sold for $244,940 in March, according to the latest Missouri Realtors report. During the month, 7,001 residential properties sold in Missouri.
