Curb Appeal: 29 listings make cut in October

Posted online

October was just below the record month of the year for high-end home listings.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of 29 single-family homes within city limits that were listed last month with asking prices of $500,000 or more.

The October figure compares with 16 listings in September, 28 in August and 33 in July, and marks the record month to date in 2023, according to Southern Missouri Regional MLS data.

Combined, the residences listed in October are seeking $21.2 million in their asking prices.

Three homes' asking prices exceeded $1 million. The highest-priced home of the month, at nearly $1.6 million, is a brick-and-stone residence in far east Springfield.

The latest data from the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors show an average sale price of $294,424 in October and 501 units sold that month. That compares with an average sale price of $270,538 and 541 units sold in October 2022.

Statewide, the Missouri Realtors association reports the average residential sale price rose 6.3% year over year to $305,437 in September, the latest month available.
