Curb Appeal: $13M in high-dollar homes listed in March

Posted online

The Springfield housing marketplace added 15 high-dollar homes in March, the most of any month so far this year, according to Southern Missouri Regional MLS data.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of single-family homes within city limits that have an asking price of $500,000 or more. Fifteen properties made the list in March, compared with 13 in February and 10 in January.

The homes' owners collectively are seeking nearly $13 million for the residences, according to the MLS. That compares with $10.7 million in February.

National trends
In the National Association of Realtors' latest existing home sales report, the organization reported the strongest results in 13 years.

Existing home sales rose 7.2% in February to 5.77 million, compared with 5.38 million a year earlier, according to a news release. The NAR data is seasonally adjusted.

“I would attribute that to the incredibly low mortgage rates and the steady release of a sizable pent-up housing demand that was built over recent years,” said Lawrence Yun, NAR’s chief economist, in the release.

NAR officials said the group is working with federal leaders as the coronavirus spreads. March home sales data is not yet available.
