Crystal jewelry maker opening storefront in Springfield

A crystal jewelry maker who started on Etsy is expanding with a storefront in Springfield she hopes will create a "metaphysical hub."

Mystical Thoughts LLC owner Seder Kojdecki said an April 1 launch is planned at 1943 S. Glenstone Ave. The store would be in a retail center with tenants such as Dancing Mule Coffee Co. and To The Nines Tattoo LLC.

"A storefront has always been my goal, although the need for a metaphysical hub in Springfield definitely spurred a quicker opening than I ever imagined," she said via email.

Kojdecki said she hopes the store also would work to educate customers in an industry with copious misinformation.

"Springfield has one or two shops with spiritual ideologies, crystals, etc., but no true metaphysical shops," she said. "I hope to create a community for spiritual people to find like-minded folks, useful tools and information about various metaphysical topics."

The Mystical Thoughts storefront would offer wire-wrapped crystals, Kojdecki's flagship product, along with secondhand crystals that are "pre-loved," spell jars, spiritual tools, tarot decks and books. She also plans to host crystal and jewelry workshops.

Kojdecki, the company’s lone employee, said startup costs for the storefront are nearly $5,000. She signed a one-year lease for $1,100 per month with Petrol Properties for the 900-square-foot space.

The Mystical Thoughts storefront's first day will pay homage to April Fool's Day, with a theme of "The Fool's Journey."

"The Fool is the first card in the tarot deck, aligning nicely with April Fool's Day," she said.

Kojdecki said she started Mystical Thoughts in August 2021 on Etsy selling handmade crystal jewelry and spiritual tools. She has been conducting pop-up events as the business has caught on.

"People were more than receptive, and often expressed their desire for a permanent shop like mine," she said. "After doing markets and online sales for almost three years, I finally took the plunge and started looking for the perfect home for Mystical Thoughts."
