Convoy of Hope and City Utilities of Springfield are preparing to lend their assistance to Florida residents as Hurricane Ian approaches.
CU crews are headed to the area, and Convoy of Hope is preparing to deploy relief supplies, according to separate announcements. The hurricane is expected to make landfall near Tampa Bay late Wednesday or early Thursday, according to Convoy of Hope officials.
"City Utilities is sending two electric line crews and support staff to the Florida area who, along with other responding line crews, will be in position to assist in power restoration efforts after the storm impacts Florida," officials with CU said in a news release.

Convoy of Hope has bagged and loaded thousands of pounds of relief supplies "to depart for Florida as soon as it is appropriate," according to a news release issued this morning.
Officials with Convoy of Hope say nearly 7 million people are in immediate danger of 5 feet to 10 feet of storm surge.
Plans for the Finley Ridge apartment complex in the growing community of Ozark call for four buildings, four stories apiece, with 48 units each for a total of 192, as well as a 1,500-square-foot shared community and fitness room.
