Reporter’s Notebook: Twice a year, Springfield Business Journal asks area construction companies to submit write-ups for a project report, and for me, it’s always satisfying to learn what’s rising out of the dirt on a given corner. It turns out plenty is popping up and out around the Ozarks, with 17 companies reporting more than 1.4 million square feet of new builds and renovations. Work ranges from public projects, like schools, a jail and a hospital, to the private sector, including apartments and businesses. Keep in mind the pages that follow offer only a sampling from a lavish buffet of project work in the Ozarks. Enjoy taking a peek at their offerings. —Karen Craigo, Reporter
