Command Family Medicine plans Branson market entry

Dr. Drew Haney is hired to lead the Branson office.

Springfield-based direct primary care practice Command Family Medicine PC is seeking to enter the Branson market.

The company announced the hiring of Dr. Drew Haney to lead the Branson office, once a site is secured, said Command Family Medicine owner Dr. Luke Van Kirk.

Van Kirk said via email he's currently pursuing a few options, but a location in Branson has not yet been secured. He said he's considering purchase and leasing options for between 1,500 and 3,000 square feet.

"We do not have a specific date set yet, but it will be likely October or early November," Van Kirk said of the opening in Branson.

Until then, Haney will work out of the Springfield office, 2659 E. Normandy Drive, Ste. 108, according to a news release. A 2016 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Haney also has taught courses at OSU.

Under the direct primary care model, patients pay physicians and providers directly for primary care services, typically under a membership model. Van Kirk said his company currently has around 1,000 members, with the average paying $55 per month. Patients using direct care often combine it with a high-deductible or catastrophic health insurance plan, according to past reporting.

Van Kirk in December 2015 founded Command Family Medicine, providing adult and family care, urgent care and minor procedures, such as biopsies and injections.
