Coffee shop to replace another at Farmers Park

Posted online

As one coffee shop moves out, another is replacing it at Farmers Park.

One Drop Coffee Co. LLC, a startup from Eric and Mary Groves, is scheduled to open next month at 2144 E. Republic Road, Ste. A-132. The Press Coffee & Juice Bar is relocating from the space to new digs at 2710 S. Glenstone Ave. in Brentwood Center North.

“Luckily, we have a space with great bones that won’t need much in the way of remodeling,” Mary Groves said in a news release issued by Farmers Park. “We plan to brighten it up with paint and thoughtful decorations.”

Matt Wagner, spokesman for Farmers Park developer Green Circle Projects, declined to disclose lease terms for the more than 1,000-square-foot space. Springfield Business Journal previously reported asking rates in Farmers Park ranged from $16.50 to $19 per square foot annually.

One Drop will sell coffee roasted by northwest Arkansas’ Onyx Coffee Lab. One Drop is named after a reggae drum beat, according to the release.

“We were looking for commercial space in southeast Springfield and when the opportunity to lease a spot in Farmers Park presented itself, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the distinct community atmosphere,” Groves said in the release.

Farmers Park, which is centered around a farmers market, recently lost retailers Staxx and Jellybeans, along with The Press, to the Brentwood Center.

The Press opened in late 2014 in Farmers Park. It previously was a Caffe Bene franchise.

One Drop Coffee Co. is at least the fourth Springfield coffee shop to open in 2019, following the launches of Able Coffee & Provisions LLC, Springtown Coffee Co. and Architect Coffee Co. LLC.
