Coffee shop 'closed until further notice' after Ozark building collapse

Posted online

A coffee shop on the bottom floor of an Ozark building that partially collapsed yesterday is "closed until further notice," according to company officials.

Ozark Adventure Coffee Co., which opened last year at 101 W. Church St., made the announcement on Facebook after the incident on Thursday.

"Due to the damage of the building, Adventure Coffee Co. will be closed until further notice," the post reads. "The support of the community has been overwhelming, and we are so grateful for your prayers and encouraging words. We will keep our social media updated as we make plans for what’s next."

Emergency responders were called to the building collapse early yesterday at the intersection of First and Church streets on the downtown Ozark square, according to a statement from the Ozark Police Department. No injuries were reported, according to the statement, and residents are being asked to avoid the area. An upstairs apartment also was damaged.

The Nixa Chamber of Commerce in a Facebook post yesterday called on website purchases at Adventure Coffee Co. to support the business. Officials with the Ozark Chamber of Commerce on Facebook said the organization would be updating members on ways they can support and assist Adventure Coffee, as well as nearby impacted businesses Heart of Grace Boutique, the Ozark Driver and Motor Vehicle office and Iguana Roja restaurant.
