Citizens Memorial Hospital penned a deal to purchase Stephens Pharmacy Inc. from Mike Stephens, a state representative from Bolivar.
Through the deal scheduled to close Sept. 30 for undisclosed terms, CMH will close its Butterfield Pharmacy and direct prescriptions to Stephens Pharmacy, located at 1100 S. Springfield Ave. in Bolivar. CMH spokeswoman Tamera Heitz-Peek said staff members and inventory from Butterfield and CMH Senior Pharmacy would move over to Stephens Pharmacy, which will keep its name.
“I’ve worked with Mike Stephens for more than 38 years,” CMH CEO Donald Babb said in the release. “He’s been a great partner with CMH. This merger is such a good match for us as we move forward to expand our pharmacy services.”
Stephens plans stay on as a pharmacist at Stephens Pharmacy while continuing to do his legislative work in Jefferson City. Representing District 128, Stephens was elected in 2016. He opened Stephens Pharmacy in 1975.
This summer, CMH was honored by Springfield Business Journal for the Economic Impact Awards. The health care system reported $501.4 million in 2018 revenue and 2,137 employees.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
