The center city Holiday Inn Express & Suites is operating under a new name.
Signage changes show the hotel is now known as The Q Hotel & Suites: A John Q. Hammons Signature Hotel. Michael Bloom, the hotel’s general manager, could not be reached for comment by deadline. A guest services representative who declined to identify herself said the hotel changed names on Feb. 1. The Holiday Inn Express Facebook page changed its profile picture to identify the new name on Feb. 1.
The 188-room hotel at 1117 St. Louis St. is among Springfield-area properties that came under Atrium Hospitality LP management last year. Atrium parent company J.D. Holdings LLC spent $1 billion to purchase John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts’ 35 hotels and nearly 150 other assets out of bankruptcy last year.
Other Springfield-area properties now under Atrium Hospitality management include Springfield’s University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center, Residence Inn, the Courtyard by Marriott near Springfield-Branson National Airport and Chateau on the Lake in Branson, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The Q Hotel, across the street from Hammons Field, was built under the Holiday Inn flag in 2004. The four-story hotel opened to guests in March 2005, according to SBJ archives.
Helping people is the foremost purpose in business for Angela Stephens. The idea for Re-Focus the Creative Office was born to help her son, Drake Stephens, who had started struggling in school in fifth grade.
