A longtime supporter of Springfield nonprofit Care to Learn helped the organization celebrate a milestone with a $100,000 donation.

Care to Learn held an April 21 ceremony at Hickory Hills Country Club to recognize meeting more than 2 million health, hunger and hygiene needs for students across the state, according to a news release.

“Care to Learn wasn’t something that I set out to do; it was something that I knew was going to happen as soon as I heard the stories about children in my hometown who were suffering,” said Doug Pitt, founder of Care to Learn, in the release. “I heard about how simple the fixes were, and I knew I could be a part of the solution.”

During the event, Care to Learn supporter Rob Voss presented a $100,000 donation in honor of the milestone, said Andrea Harp, Care to Learn’s director of marketing and communication. Voss owns Integrity Hills Development and V&S Development, and he previously worked for 24 years as senior vice president of merchandise and development for Sam's Club, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Care to Learn, founded in 2008, now has chapters in 38 school districts in Missouri, according to the release.
