The city of Springfield is investing in a Commercial Street parking lot to the tune of $325,000.
The parking lot at Campbell Avenue and Pacific Street is slated to close Sept. 27 for the improvement project, according to a news release. Construction is expected to last around six weeks.
"The project will include the reconfiguration of the parking lot with new pavement, lighting and landscaping," officials said in the release.
City spokesperson Kristen Milam said construction is being conducted internally by city street maintenance and landscaping crews. The asphalt work is being taken on by APAC-Central Inc. through an existing city asphalt paving contract, she added.
The parking lot improvement project is funded by the C-Street tax increment financing district, the city's quarter-cent capital improvement sales tax and additional Public Works funds, according to the release.
A similar parking lot project at Robberson Avenue and Pacific Street started in August and is slated for completion in October.
