Springfield-based BKD LLP boosted its restructuring and business advisory services with the purchase of a firm in Indianapolis.
Hamernik LLC merged into BKD on March 1, according to a news release. The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
“BKD has a great reputation, not only in Indiana but nationally," said former Hamernik owner Kevin Hamernik, in the release. "We believe this will allow us to deepen and expand what we started at Hamernik, by leveraging BKD’s broad pool of resources, skilled professionals, diverse practice areas and geographic coverage."
As part of the deal, Kevin Hamernik will lead BKD's national restructuring and special situations practice. One partner and two employees from Hamernik LLC are joining BKD and will work out of the firm's Indianapolis office, said company Chief Marketing Officer Greg Cole. BKD has operated in the Indianapolis market for 20 years.
Cole declined to disclose annual revenue for Hamernik. BKD's fiscal 2020 revenue was roughly $700 million, he said.
BKD employees roughly 2,900 people, according to the release.
