Beauty salon relocating to Magers Crossing

Posted online

The Beauty Factory LLC is expanding with a relocation to Magers Crossing.

Owner Serena Woods, who’s currently the sole stylist working at 3636 S. Campbell Ave. in Kickapoo Corners, is targeting a Sept. 3 opening date for her shop at 2100 W. Republic Road, Ste. 116.

“My business has grown enough to where I need to add other stylists in a bigger place,” Woods said, noting she’s planning to have five people working out of the new space in Magers Crossing.

Woods said she’s investing $130,000 on infill costs, with work from BP Builders LLC. She signed a five-year lease with three additional five-year options at $2,800 per month for the 1,880-square-foot space.

Woods, who specializes in women’s color, especially blond hair, said her shop also would make a statement with a laid back atmosphere that promotes eco-friendly products and recycling.

“There’s a tendency for salons to get pretty loud and obnoxious,” she said. “Not everybody loves that. I’m going to be an exception to that.”

Woods said she currently serves 65 to 75 clients per month, and she expects her personal workload to increase fivefold at the new space. The shop also would sell eco-friendly products.

“We’re having a positive impact on our community and the environment,” she said, noting her shop recycles all salon waste.

Woods opened The Beauty Factory more than two years ago after previously renting space in other salons.

“I’ve lived in Springfield for about 14 years doing hair,” she said.

The Beauty Factory joins a growing list of tenants who have signed leases for Magers Crossing’s newest addition on the east side of the development. Smokin’ Bob’s BBQ and Crave Cookie Dough also are on board. Together, the three businesses are occupying over 5,400 square feet of the 14,000-square-foot building.
