BCFO hires Health Department spokesperson

Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks hired the Springfield-Greene County Health Department spokesperson to fill a role opening next month.

Kathryn Wall, public health information administrator for seven years, is slated to start April 19 as BCFO's director of community engagement, according to a news release. She succeeds Samuel Pippin, who is retiring at the end of April.

"Throughout the past year she has demonstrated daily her commitment to the health and safety of local families," BCFO Chief Operating Officer Allyson Tuckness said in the release. "Her energy and desire to make the Ozarks a better place makes her a natural fit with the mission of BCFO.”

Wall has served as the point of contact for the Health Department amid the coronavirus pandemic.

At BCFO, she will be in charge of forming relationships with the nonprofit's outlying communities, donors, health departments, hospitals and clients, according to the release.

BCFO has a roughly $1.5 million operating budget, according to past reporting. The nonprofit helps breast cancer survivors with household financial needs, such as rent, auto repairs and utilities, as well as free mammograms and emotional support programs.

BCFO CEO Joe Daues late last year said the nonprofit is working to replicate its model in other markets.
