The Better Business Bureau issued a warning against doing business with a Springfield contractor.
C&J Tree Service, which has an "F" rating on its BBB profile, allegedly failed to finish some projects, show up for appointments and communicate adequately with customers, according to a news release.
The BBB cited a handful of complaints in which Springfield-area residents paid thousands of dollars for tree services that were left unfinished.
“This business has an obligation to finish the work it was paid to do or issue partial refunds for the work that was left undone,” said Stephanie Garland, Springfield regional director for the BBB, in the release. “Many consumers told us they were solicited by the business as it was going door to door in their area. It is vital to research any business before agreeing to let them work on your property."
Complainants identified Calvin Jones and Ron Jones as the operators of C&J Tree Service, according to the release. BBB records show the duo have operated similar businesses under the names of C&R Tree Service, Ron Jones Tree Service, Good Ol’ Boys Tree Surgeon and Joseph’s Tree Service.
The phone number listed on C&J Tree Service's BBB profile is not operable. The BBB additionally indicated the business did not respond when asked about the complaints.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
