Springfield-based outdoor retailer Bass Pro Shops is set to debut its 16th store in Texas.
An Oct. 2 grand opening event has been set for the new Outdoor World store in Spring, Texas, located in the greater Houston area, according to a news release. It will launch with normal business hours starting Oct. 3.
"Details inside the Spring location include camping and hunting murals inspired by historic Outdoor Life and Field and Stream vintage magazine covers, water features inspired by McKinney Falls and regional taxidermy pieces that feature whitetail deer and turkey," officials said in the release, also pointing to a 10,000-gallon aquarium with a dozen species and nearly 100 fish.
The 125,000-square-foot, 150-employee Outdoor World store is located around 7 miles north of Bass Pro's existing Tracker Boating Center in Houston. The center will conclude operations Sept. 21 to move its services into the new store, officials say.
The grand opening event is scheduled to include appearances by famous fishermen Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin, according to the release.
Bass Pro's website lists 174 stores in the United States and Canada under the Bass Pro and Cabela's flags.
