Bass Pro hires Walmart exec to lead marketing

Bass Pro Shops hired longtime Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) executive Jamie Sohosky as its new chief marketing officer.

Sohosky has nearly 13 years of experience at Walmart, the last four of which were as vice president of marketing covering customer experience, according to her LinkedIn profile. She succeeds Stan Lippelman, who was vice president of marketing but “left the company to pursue other opportunities,” said Bass Pro spokesman Michael Zerman. Lippelman’s LinkedIn profile lists him as chief marketing officer for the past 10 months at San Antonio, Texas-based Visionworks of America.

In addition to Bass Pro, Sohosky will lead marketing over customer engagement, advertisements, promotions, events, sponsorships and partnerships for Cabela’s, White River Marine Group and Big Cedar Lodge, according to a news release.

“Jamie brings a passionate, customer-first approach that will help drive our overall marketing strategy and be key to the future success of our brands,” Bass Pro founder and CEO Johnny Morris said in the release.

Prior to joining Walmart in 2006, Sohosky was category marketing manager for Campbell Soup Co. and worked at advertising agencies that supported companies such as Nike, Jim Beam and Tropicana.

Sohosky and her family are moving to Springfield from Bentonville, Arkansas, according to the release.
