Bass Pro Shops is growing its presence in the Golden State with plans for a new store.
The Springfield-based outdoor retailer has selected Irvine, California, to open a 140,000-square-foot Outdoor World later this year or in early 2023, according to a news release.
Bass Pro is partnering with real estate developers Irvine Co. for the store at Alton Marketplace, a retail development that officials say gets around 425,000 vehicles passing by daily. Other stores listed at Alton Marketplace's website include a PGA Tour Superstore and Living Spaces Furniture.
"There is no stronger company to work with in the region focused on the outdoor, coastal lifestyle and conservation,” Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in the release.
The Bass Pro store is designed with an aquarium and water features, along with areas for Tracker boats and outdoor gear.
Bass Pro's website lists 170 stores in the United States, including four in California, and Canada.
