Angel Animal Hospital plans south-side move

A Queen City veterinarian hospital is on the move with an Oct. 12 grand opening planned for its new south-side location.

Angel Animal Hospital LLC, which officials said has operated at 1332 W. Sunshine St. for over 60 years, has closed temporarily as of today, while it completes a relocation to its new home at 2726 S. Kansas Expressway. The hospital is expected to reopen to clients on Oct. 7, according to its Facebook page.

Dr. Gary Nie, who co-owns the business with Dr. Jane Flathers, said via email Angel Animal Hospital will more than double its footprint in the move, filling 6,500 square feet in a standalone building previously occupied by The Bank of Missouri. Its now former West Sunshine location is 2,500 square feet.

Nie said the animal hospital purchased the Kansas Expressway building from The Bank of Missouri, adding the investment, including relocation and renovation costs, is $2.5 million.

“This gives us the ability to better serve our patients and clients,” he said of the new location, noting staff size will almost double to roughly 20 employees.

With a focus on whole body health, Angel Animal Hospital specializes in treating severe disease processes such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, allergies and emotional imbalances, according to a news release. Its commitment to offering both conventional and alternative treatments allows staff to tailor care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.

“Our evolution over the years from a conventional-only practice to an integrative one reflects our dedication to staying at the cutting edge of veterinary medicine,” Nie said in the release. “We continue to add more services and treatment modalities, ensuring that we can address all aspects of our patients’ health care needs.”

The Oct. 12 grand opening, set for 3-7 p.m., will include facility tours, giveaways and local food trucks, according to the release.

“This grand opening marks a significant milestone for us as we celebrate our 18th anniversary of ownership and our commitment to providing high-quality veterinary care,” he said in the release.
