Amazon hiring 600 in Republic, Springfield

Posted online Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is planning to make 600 hires at its Republic and Springfield facilities.

The new workers at the Republic fulfillment center and Springfield delivery station are part of Amazon's announcement this week of 250,000 planned hires in full-time, part-time and seasonal roles across the company's operations network. The Republic and Springfield facilities together have about 1,600 employees, according to a spokesperson.

"Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them," said John Felton, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, in a news release.

Packing, picking, sorting and shipping jobs are among those available, with pay of up to $28 per hour, company officials say.

Of the 250,000 planned hires, 4,500 are being made in Missouri, according to the release.
