2025 40 Under 40: Taylor Wells

Pearson-Kelly Technology

Posted online

Joining the team at Pearson-Kelly Technology six years ago as director of service and operations was a complete career change for Taylor Wells, 31, who previously had been in the entertainment industry.

It has helped her grow her leadership skills and showcase her initiative. An example is the budget and deal tracker she launched for Pearson-Kelly in 2023 that monitors all partnership opportunities from start to finish, establishing clear lines between the Pearson-Kelly sales and operations team. The technology company recently acquired a company out of Arkansas, which required her to build a new team from the ground up, successfully merging new processes, new clients and new employees into a cohesive team.

“I took the leap, and it’s one of the best things I could have done for my career,” she says.

Proudest moment? Getting baptized and marrying my wife in 2019.

Best productivity hack? Owning your calendar, respecting your and others’ time.

Your professional aha moment? Learning that elevating your team and employees to success will always be better than winning alone.

Best piece of advice you’ve received? What you’re not changing, you’re choosing. If you don’t like something and do nothing about it, you’re now choosing that as a result.

What historical figure do you identify with most? Amelia Earhart. I love that she was the first woman to accomplish something everyone told her she couldn’t. She believed in herself when nobody else did.

Favorite book? “Make Your Bed” by Admiral William H. McRaven.
