How can we improve digital communication to avoid conflicts due to misunderstood emails and texts?

Posted online

When communication is complex or emotions are high, do not use digital methods. Misunderstandings are common and emails can be forwarded to others you may not want to involve. For complex or sensitive issues, schedule a phone call or ZOOM meeting. For highly charged issues a personal meeting on site is best. For simple updates, memos or requests an email usually works best. Texts are for confirming a meeting, asking a simple question or casual conversation.
