Wyndham furloughs a dozen in Branson

Posted online

Orlando, Florida-based Wyndham Vacation Ownership Inc. announced a dozen furloughs in Branson.

The temporary cuts were detailed in a Jan. 8 filing by Wyndham under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The filing with the state indicates 12 Branson employees were placed on temporary furlough on Jan. 9 and Jan. 16.

In the filing, Wyndham officials cited "the speed and vast reach of the physical calamity that is the coronavirus outbreak, as well as the different and new declaration of a state of emergency and directives at the federal, state and local level."

Operating at 110 Willow Bend Drive in Branson, Wyndham sells timeshare packages.

Job titles affected in the furlough decision include vacation marketing agents, business operations coordinators and quality assurance representatives, according to the WARN notice.

The latest action comes after Wyndham in July announced in a separate WARN notice that 161 Branson employees had been laid off or furloughed since April. Officials at the time also pointed to the pandemic's impact on the tourism and hospitality industries.

A Wyndham official in Branson deferred questions to the corporate office. A request for comment was not returned immediately by deadline.

In a 2017 advertisement, Wyndham indicated it had 300 employees in Branson.
