Williams-Sonoma places $112M bet on AR shopping

Williams-Sonoma announced plans to acquire augmented reality and 3-D imaging startup Outward for $112 million.

The company wants to use the business to give shoppers a look at what products bought at West Elm, Pottery Barn and its namesake kitchen brand would like like inside their homes.

The purchase of San Jose, California-based Outward is expected to close by year's end.
