Amateur photographers across Missouri submitted 1,370 photos as part of the 2017 Focus on Missouri Agriculture Photo Contest hosted by the state Department of Agriculture. Michael Edwards, of Sedalia, took home first place in the Pride of the Farm category for this shot entitled, “Aerial Harvest.”

Coca-Cola and MoKan Franchise Development challenged Subway owners to an in-store beverage sales contest and Rick and Veronica Straus, center, didn’t disappoint. The operators of four Springfield Subway stores tallied a nearly perfect sandwich-to-drink sales ratio of 99.8 percent at their Meyer Center restaurant. They’re pictured with Jeff Luebbe of Coca-Cola, left, and Jeff Frahm of MoKan. The couple won a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Orlando.

The July 29 event featured over 100 craft beers from four local brewers as well as regional and national brands. Mother’s Brewing Co. unveiled its Ozarks style ale, the Cobra Scare, with a giant cobra march around the square.
