Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski was found dead yesterday in a Pullman, Washington, apartment.
Police said the 21-year-old died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police officers also found a rifle and a suicide note next to him. They responded to the apartment after being asked to conduct a wellness check when Hilinski didn't show up for practice.
Hilinski started the team's bowl game against Michigan State. He was expected to become the starting quarterback next season.
