Former California congresswoman Mary Bono resigned as interim president and CEO of USA Gymnastics after four days at the helm.
"My withdrawal comes in the wake of personal attacks that, left undefended, would have made my leading USAG a liability for the organization," Bono said in her resignation letter.
Bono faced criticism from an anti-Nike Twitter post, in which she lambasted the company after it announced Colin Kaepernick would be the face of a major marketing campaign.
Former USA Gymnastics head Kerry Perry resigned amid scrutiny of the organization related to its handling of sexual abuse by Dr. Larry Nasser, the team’s former doctor.
