President Donald Trump intends to nominate Federal Reserve governor Jerome Powell as the next chairman of the central bank, sources familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
If Powell is confirmed by the Senate, he would succeed four-year leader Janet Yellen, whose term expires in February. She's the first woman to lead the central bank.
Powell would become the first first investment banker to hold the top Fed job.
