Study: Springfield among 20 best US cities to start a business

Springfield ranked 16th on WalletHub.com’s list of the best large cities to start a business.

The personal finance website evaluated more than 180 cities nationwide on business environment, access to resources and costs. Business environment had a possible 50 points, while the other two categories had 25 apiece, according to a news release.

The Queen City had an overall score of 57.83 out of 100. Springfield ranked first in business costs, 51st in access to resources and 97th in business environment.

Springfield earned the following individual metric rankings:
    •    sixth in office-space affordability;
    •    11th in cost of living;
    •    11th in labor costs;
    •    18th in financing accessibility; and
    •    80th in industry variety.

The two other cities in Missouri on the list, St. Louis and Kansas City, ranked 23rd and 30th, respectively, according to WalletHub.

The top-ranking city was Oklahoma City, with a score of 62.24. It was followed by Austin, Texas, at 61.35, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at 61.12.
