A Springfield woman yesterday pleaded guilty to stealing mail from at least 40 victims in Greene, Christian and Polk counties.

Lisa Gee, 29, is facing charges of passing a forged check, credit card fraud and stealing mail, according to a news release from the office of Tom Larson, acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

Gee admitted she stole or directed others to steal mail between Jan. 8 and March 17, 2016. The stolen mail contained checks, credit cards, Social Security cards and other personal identification cards. Gee then used the contents to commit fraudulent criminal acts, according to court documents.

In addition to conducting fraudulent financial transactions, Gee passed a forged check on Jan. 23, 2016, by mailing it from one person to another and then withdrawing it via ATM, according to the release.

Under federal statutes, Gee could receive to up to 30 years in federal prison without parole.
