Sony takes controlling stake in EMI Music Publishing

Sony agreed to buy a controlling stake in EMI Music Publishing for $2.3 billion.

The deal would give Sony the rights to more than 2 million additional songs by artists from Queen and Carole King to Alicia Keys and Pharrell Williams.

Through the deal, Sony is increasing its stake in EMI to 90 percent from 30 percent.
