Southwest Missouri attractions are on a roll when it comes to USA Today reader polls.
Silver Dollar City was voted by readers as the fourth-best amusement park in the nation in a poll that closed last week. It follows Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium, which was named best aquarium and best new attraction in separate USA Today polls earlier this year.
“Inclusion in the top five of this USA Today 10Best Reader’s poll continues to thrust Silver Dollar City as a premier destination for American families,” Silver Dollar City President Brad Thomas said in a June 22 news release.
For the poll, amusement park industry experts selected 20 finalists from more than 400 U.S. attractions, and USA Today readers then narrowed them down during four weeks of voting.
In April, Thomas told Springfield Business Journal the Branson park is projecting 100,000 more visitors on top of 2.1 million who attended last year. The addition of the $26 million Time Traveler roller coaster to start the season is the impetus behind the forecasts, Thomas said, speaking as SBJ’s 12 People You Need to Know live interview guest.
On the USA Today list, Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, ranked first, followed by Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
