Silver Dollar City is among 20 theme parks in the running for a holiday-themed USA Today reader poll.
Silver Dollar City's An Old Time Christmas event, which runs through Dec. 30, includes a light parade, five-story special effects tree, Broadway-style holiday productions and 6.5 million lights, according to a news release.
The attraction is up for best American theme park holiday event with the likes of Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort and Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood. The latter Pigeon Forge, Tennessee-based park, like Silver Dollar City, is operated by Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. Silver Dollar City is the only park in Missouri up for consideration in the USA Today poll.
The winner of the USA Today poll will be announced Dec. 21. Rankings are currently unavailable.
Earlier this year, Branson-based Silver Dollar City was voted by USA Today readers as the fourth-best amusement park in the nation behind Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
