Through his hedge fund ESL Investments, Sears CEO Eddie Lampert offered to buy the company's Kenmore house appliances brand for $400 million.
The billionaire also offered to pay $70 million to $80 million for the Sears Home Services division.
"Speed and certainty here are critical. We believe, therefore, that an expedited process is in the best interest of all parties involved," Lampert wrote in a letter to a Sears committee.
