An audit report by Kansas state regulators identified violations of the Kansas Amusement Ride Act on 11 of Schlitterbahn water park's rides.
The audit pointed to 160 violations at the Kansas City, Kansas, water park. Most of them required immediate action by the park's Texas-based operator.
A Schlitterbahn spokeswoman challenged the accuracy of the findings by the Kansas Department of Labor.
"The fact is the KDOL did not follow its own statutory requirements by publishing a list of misleading and false information concerning a park that was not yet open to the public and was not yet ready for operation," Schlitterbahn spokeswoman Winter Prosapio said in a written statement.
The audit comes ahead of Schlitterbahn's planned May 25 opening for the season. Findings included a lack of safety signage despite manufacturer requirements that rides must be replaced.
Park officials later said "the park will not open any ride or attraction unless and until the issues raised in the report have been fully addressed."
