What can $1 million buy you in the current residential real estate market? We searched around the Springfield area and found some gems – that recently sold or are currently listed.
Here’s a snapshot analysis of homes with county-appraised values of $1 million or more in 2017, according to a public records from the Greene County Assessor’s Office.
If you’re in the million-dollar home market, Ozark is hot and Rogersville has a good selection, when searching Springfield’s bedroom communities for listings with a baseline of $1 million.
Zillow.com identifies about a dozen single-family residences in Springfield currently available at that price tag and greater. On the higher end is a $1.8 million, 8,700-square-foot home on Bridgend Drive in Highland Springs (listed by Murney Associates, Realtors) and a $1.65 million European-inspired estate on 11 acres off of East Sunshine Street (listed by Keller Williams Realty).
There are no current listings in the million-dollar range in Nixa, Republic or Willard. But Strafford has a $1.9 million, 10,500-square-foot house on a wooded hilltop overlooking Pearson Creek (listed by Murney Associates).
The outlier is one home with a nickname: the African Queen. It’s listed for a whopping $8.9 million by homeowner Michael Willhoit. It originally started at $15 million in January 2016, according to Zillow. Maybe 2018 will be the year. The Willhoit residence, an elaborately restyled Don Russell-designed home, recently was featured in The Wall Street Journal for unusually being listed on eBay.
