P&G to buy Merck's consumer health business for $4.2B

Procter & Gamble agreed to acquire Germany-based Merck's consumer health business for roughly $4.2 billion.

The unit includes brands such as Femibion, Neurobion and Nasivin. They add to P&G's existing portfolio that includes Pampers diapers, Gillette razors and Vicks cough and cold products.

P&G separately announced plans to end its consumer care joint venture with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, called PGT Healthcare, on July 1.
