Ozark board sifts through 25 superintendent applications

Posted online

The Ozark R-6 School District Board of Education tomorrow is scheduled to start reviewing 25 applications for superintendent.

With help from the Missouri School Board Association, the district is searching for a new leader to replace Kevin Patterson — the school system’s superintendent since 2012, who accepted a job starting this summer at Southwest Baptist University.

Ozark schools spokeswoman Casey Owens said the board is not releasing the names of the applicants. She said seven applications are from out of state, and an unknown number are from current employees of the district.

The board is targeting the first week of April to conduct interviews with a plan to announce a new superintendent at its April 17 meeting, according to a news release.

“The superintendent search process is going very well with the assistance of the MSBA consultants,” Ozark board President Patty Quessenberry said in the release. “I am confident the board will exercise due diligence in selecting the best superintendent.”

The board issued an online survey and community forum to collect feedback from Ozark staff and community members. The effort has resulted in more than 900 responses ranking desired leadership qualities for the next superintendent.
