Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce
The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce moved across town April 3 to 106 W. Sherman Way. Chamber officials spent about $40,000 renovating 3,000 square feet formerly occupied by All American Rental Inc. in the Nixa Plaza Shopping Center. General contractor Oak Grove Construction Services Inc. carved out multiple offices and a large meeting space for the 450-member chamber. Chamber officials signed a five-year lease with two, three-year options for an undisclosed rate, said Executive Director Tammy Mast. Moving from 566 W. Mount Vernon St., the new office has a community room available for rent. The chamber currently has three full-time employees with one vacancy for an office manager yet to be filled, Mast said.

SaigonSandwiches has three full-time employees plus family help as needed, Winn said. Meals run $6-$10. Winn is a native of Vietnam and moved to the United States in 1999, when she settled with her husband in Springfield. Plaza Tire Service Inc.
Cape Girardeau-based Plaza Tire Service Inc. opened the 61st store in the chain March 30 at 2867 E. Sunshine St. Owned by brothers Mark and Scott Rhodes, whose father founded the company in 1963, Plaza Tire buys direct from manufacturers, said Marketing Manager Brian McMillan. He said among its 15 tire brands, the top sellers are Michelin, Bridgestone, Falken and Nokian. Located in a renovated building on the same block as the 2-year-old JBC Tire and Service Center, Plaza Tire is one of three companies working on new tire stores in Springfield. The 900-store Discount Tire chain in December opened on South Glenstone Avenue, and RNR Wheels & Tire is constructing its second store on South Campbell. McMillan was unaware of Plaza Tire’s investment for the store, which is run by manager Barron Rice and eight-10 mechanics and tire technicians. Working with walk-ins and commercial accounts, McMillan said other services include oil changes, brake work and alignments.
