JQH Tower Club
The 21st and 22nd floors of Hammons Tower reopened Nov. 7 as a public event venue and rebranded as JQH Tower Club. The space atop 901 St. Louis St. – managed by Plaza Realty & Management Services LLC, a subsidiary of John Q. Hammons Industries – includes two ballrooms, six meeting rooms, a dinning room and a catering kitchen, said Diana Hall, a temporary employee for Plaza Realty. Previously, The Tower Club operated as a members-only restaurant and reception hall for nearly 30 years. It suddenly closed in June, when management said it would undergo renovations. Crews refinished the Tower Club’s brass and wood trim, replaced lighting and repainted, as well as refurbished the office tower’s elevators and performed cosmetic updates in the main lobby. Hall said the larger ballroom on the 21st floor, which runs $2,500 for an evening event, can seat 300 for dining and the new 3,500-square-foot hardwood floor is set up for dancing. The smaller ballroom, on the top floor, rents for $1,500 and can seat 150.

The Springfield branch of PrimeLending moved Nov. 3 to 3150 S. National Ave. from its office of eight years in Copperstone Square. PrimeLending is the single tenant in the smaller National Place office building leased for four years from developer Mike Fusek. PrimeLending’s 3,700-square-foot, stand-alone building – built 60 years ago and used as a medical office – was overhauled by BP Builders LLC as part of the National Place office development comprising the three-story, multitenant office building to the north. Branch Manager Tuesday Blair said the mortgage loan office’s volume has steadily grown the last eight years to $70 million in 2017, a 20 percent increase from the year prior, according to Springfield Business Journal list research. Lease terms were not disclosed. The 12-employee office also serves as an operations center, she said, for other branches in Branson, Ozark and West Plains. PrimeLending, owned by Dallas, Texas-based PlainsCapital Bank, operates 380 branches in 50 states, Blair said.
