Novartis to buy cancer-drug maker for $2B

Novartis AG announced it would purchase Endocyte Inc. for $2.1 billion.

The acquisition would give the Swiss pharmaceutical company access to Endocyte's so-called radiopharmaceuticals, which carry radioactive substances to kill tumor cells.

Endocyte is currently developing a new treatment for prostate cancer.
