The city of Nixa has a new city administrator, but officials with the municipality aren’t quite ready to say who it is.
The winning candidate, following a search process, is slated to be announced during Nixa City Council’s Sept. 24 meeting. The new city administrator, selected from 80 applicants and several finalists, succeeds 17-year leader Brian Bingle, who retired last year, according to a news release.
“After a search which has lasted nearly nine months, City Council has selected a visionary and experienced leader to be our next city administrator. We are confident this person will take Nixa into its next era of growth and progress,” Mayor Brian Steele said in the release. “In the end, there was one candidate whose credentials and leadership ability stood above the rest as the clear choice for Nixa’s future.”
Nixa has been led in an interim capacity for the past year by Public Works Director Doug Colvin.
In January, Nixa hired Keller, Texas-based Strategic Government Resources Inc. to lead the search for Bingle’s permanent successor.
According to the job posting from earlier this year, the salary range for the Nixa city administrator position is $110,000 to $140,000. Reporting to the mayor and six council members, the city administrator leads the day-to-day operations of the municipality and its $38 million budget, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
