The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants elected Eric Hansen, BKD LLP’s chief operating officer, as chairman of its board of directors. His association duties begin Feb. 1, 2018, and run through May 20, 2019.

Hallie Sale
joined Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc. as marketing director handling all marketing and communications activities. She most recently worked as business development officer for Systematic Savings Bank.

Banking & Finance
Janet Cyr Helfrecht
, vice president, trust administrator and relationship manager at Central Trust Co., earned the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the American Bankers Association. Prior to passing the exam, she demonstrated her three years of financial adviser experience, completion of various training programs and adherence to the industry’s code of ethics.

Education
Jennifer Morrison
, assistant professor of English at Evangel University, received the Distinguished Service Award from Mid-America Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. The peer-nominated award honors educators for their dedication and leadership. Morrison, who served on the 600-member group’s board 2005-15, has coordinated Evangel’s TESOL program since 2011.

Missouri State University assistant professor of agriculture Melissa Remley received the national Non-land-grant Agriculture and Renewable Resources Universities Distinguished Young Educator Award for her dedication to helping students. The award is also an achievement for the university’s Darr College of Agriculture, since it’s typically given to educators from larger universities.

Food & Beverage
Hickory Hills Country Club Hospitality Director Michael Cho became a certified sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers. He has worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry for 15 years, including stints at Millwood Country Club, Noble/The Food Channel and Argentina Steakhouse. The certification ensures wine salesmanship, beverage management and tasting ability.

Government
Christian County
became a Certified Work Ready Community through the American College Testing Work Ready Communities program. The county began participating in the program in July 2015, and it’s designed to increase the quality of the workforce and anticipating the needs of area businesses, including education connections.

For the second year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the Nixa Finance Department with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Nixa submitted its 2016 comprehensive annual financial report to be judged for standards in full-disclosure governmental accounting, financial reporting and storytelling, and readability.

Health Care
Integrity Home Care Inc. promoted Dylan Walker to marketing and communications manager and Brandon Rachal to director of education and organizational development. Walker joined integrity in June 2016 as the marketing coordinator and most recently served as communications manager, while Rachal joined earlier this year as clinical education and development manager.

Nonprofit
Council of Churches of the Ozarks Inc. hired Keke Rover as director of Ambassadors for Children, an outreach service of Council of Churches working in the foster care systems in Greene, Christian and Taney counties. She most recently was house manager of Isabel’s House Crisis Nursery.
