Economic Development
A digital brochure produced by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce won a Grand Award from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Incorporating regional marketing and talent attraction videos, the submission was one of 13 selected out of 150 from chambers nationwide.

Education
College of the Ozarks students Michael Galioto, Andrew Carson and Kortney Cambers received first place awards at the 2018 Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Galioto and Carson worked together in the Small Business Management Plan category and Cambers was in hospitality management.

Health Care
Dr. Christina Otterness
joined Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Pathology Services team. She is certified in clinical and anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and is fellowship trained at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Citizens Memorial Hospital hired Dr. Ryan Denney to practice in the CMH Gastroenterology Clinic in Bolivar. He is certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and is fellowship trained in gastroenterology at Hackensack UMC Palisades in New Jersey.

Hospitality
O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC’s Baymont Inn & Suites-Branson won the Best of Baymont award as a top performer for the brand. Staff members were recognized for the hotel’s quality scores, guest reviews and loyalty program performance.

Comfort Inn & Suites-Branson Meadows, owned by Myer Hotels, received the Choice Hotels International Ring of Honor Award as one of the top 1 percent of hotels within the brand. Choice Hotels officials use property ranking reports on guest satisfaction and superior service.

Municipal
The Mayor’s Commission for Children added four members to its advisory council: John Chastain, system director of budgeting at CoxHealth; Denise Fredrick, an appointed member of the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education; Pat Gartland, executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield; and Amy Chenoweth, a counselor at AIDS Project of the Ozarks and an instructor at MSU.

Heather Parker joined the Springfield Fire Department as a fire and life safety educator. She previously coordinated the Community Health Advocate Program for the Springfield-Greene County Health Department and has served as a biologist for the National Park Service and a park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. With a master’s in natural and applied sciences/plant sciences from MSU, Parker succeeds Cara Erwin, who took a community wellness coordinator job with the Health Department.

Nonprofit
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield added board members Conrad Griggs, Ron Moses and Maurice Moss. Griggs works in business development at The Bank of Missouri, Moses is general manager at Jack Henry & Associates Inc., and Moss serves as an attorney for City Utilities of Springfield.

Susan Haralson of Premier Home Health Care Inc. was elected Rotary District 6080 Governor by the Sunrise Rotary Club. The group also appointed new officers: President G.R. Stovall of DeWitt & Associates Inc., President-elect Anthony Roberts of Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, Secretary Becky Hosp of Shelter Insurance and Treasurer Chris Jones of City Utilities.

Retail
The Acoustic Shoppe
was named to the National Association of Music Merchants’ Top 100 Dealers list and finished in the top three for the Best Emerging Dealer award during the Summer NAMM conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
